The Deer Run Nature Preserve Trail is a public, 2.2 mile, low-gradient footpath (4.4-mile round trip) to the “Monument”. The trail takes you from “beauty spot” to “beauty spot”- waterfalls, bubbling brooks, ancient trees, stone walls, hardwood savannahs, spectacular views.
From Route 30, turn onto the Covered Bridge in Dummerston (East West Rd.) and turn left onto Camp Arden Rd. If you are coming down East West Road from Dummerston Center, keep going straight at the stop sign instead of crossing the bridge. Stay on Camp Arden Rd. for just short of two miles. About 1/2 mile from the Covered Bridge there is a fork in the road. Keep to the left along the river. Continue for another mile. Watch for a tree on the right that says 922. The trailhead is just past that sign. Park your car and look for the pink ribbons that mark the trail.
In the spring of 2020, this parking area will be improved and there will be permanent markers on the trail.
